Police detain 18 in contact sport, 16 RMCO violaters, 2 holding big crowd events

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested and compounded 36 individuals for flouting rules under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Sabri Yaakob said these include 18 individuals for participating in contact sport, two for holding activity with a large crowd, and 16 others for going against RMCO standard operating procedures (SOPs).

In a statement today, he also said the police compliance operation team conducted 64,434 checks yesterday on SOP compliance.

"A total of 2,630 compliance teams involving 12,396 people made checks at 3,949 supermarkets, 5,673 restaurants, 1,977 hawkers, 1,159 factories, 3,718 banks and 901 government offices.

"Checks were also conducted at 1,302 land transport terminals, 248 water transport terminals and 93 air terminals," he said.

The government, through the Housing and Local Government Ministry, continued its sanitisation works, he said, with 9,189 public sanitisation operations conducted since March 30.

"A total of 12,681 premises have been sanitised, including 2,685 business premises, 5,529 government buildings, 1,591 residential areas including People's Housing Projects, 2,522 public spaces and 354 supermarkets."
