Six new Covid-19 clusters identified today [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry today detected six new Covid-19 clusters with four found in Selangor.

Its director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the remaining clusters were located separately in Sabah and Sarawak.

From the new clusters, Dr Noor Hisham said the "Highway" cluster in Sabah had the highest number of confirmed cases detected to date at 23.

"The Highway Cluster involved the Kota Belud district in Sabah.

"The index case for the cluster, Case-12,205, was tested positive for the virus on Oct 3 and the patient was subsequently was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

"To date, 59 people related to the cluster had been screened. Thirty-six results came back negative," he said.

As for Selangor, Dr Noor Hisham said the "Utama" and "Tasek" clusters had the highest number of cases with 10 positives each.

"The Utama cluster was identified in the Gombak and Petaling. The index case for the cluster, Case-2,549, tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 4.

"The patient was subsequently admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"As of noon today, the ministry has screened 114 individuals related to the cluster, of which, the result for 15 of them came back negative. The ministry is still awaiting 89 test results."

As of the Tasek Cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said the cluster was identified in Miri, Sarawak as well as the Petaling, Hulu Langat and Klang districts in Selangor.

To date, he said the ministry have screened 15 people related to the Tasek Cluster.

"The result for one individual returned negative while the ministry is still waiting for the result of four others," he said.

The two other new clusters that were detected in Selangor – Bah Manggis and Simera – each have eight positive cases to date.

The index case for the Bah Manggis cluster involved the Tawau district in Sabah and Kuala Langat district in Selangor.

"The index case for the cluster tested positive on Oct 5 and the patient was admitted to the Tawau Hospital in Sabah," he said adding the ministry had screened a total of 107 individuals related to the Bah Manggis cluster.

Five confirmed cases were detected from the Putra Cluster, Sarawak, which was found in Bintulu.
