KUALA LUMPUR: KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit will continue to operate as a combined service, but with reduced frequency, from Oct 17 to Nov 1, due to the ongoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor.
Express Rail Link (ERL) said, the revised schedule will see trains run with 30-minute intervals during peak hours (7am-9am and 4pm-7pm) and with 60-minute intervals off-peak hours.
However, the trains will operate all day from 6am-11.10pm at 60-minute intervals on weekends and public holidays.
ERL also advised commuters to comply with the necessary standard operating procedures (SOPs) while travelling during the CMCO period.
"Air travellers who are flying through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) during the CMCO period are required to obtain permission to travel interstate from the nearest police station before starting their journey.
"For those travelling on business or work purposes to or from the airport, they need to show their staff pass and a confirmation letter from their employer if requested by the police at any point before or after their train ride," it said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) spokesperson said the airports will continue to receive passengers throughout the implementation of CMCO in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor.
"As with the previous implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), airports will remain open to provide essential services to the public.
"Decisions on flight operations are the airlines' prerogative and the airport will continue to provide all necessary support," she told the New Straits Times today.
The spokesperson also said, airports will strictly adhere to safety protocols and additional safety measures while operating under the CMCO period.
"MAHB will also ensure immediate compliance to any new directives" she said.
Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the aviation sector, can operate as usual during the CMCO period, albeit with certain .regulations.
However, he said passengers travelling through KLIA, KLIA2 and Subang airports must first get approval from the police.
