Covid-19: Four new clusters spanning four states, Putrajaya and Labuan

KUALA LUMPUR: Four new Covid-19 clusters were registered in the country today.

They are the Olive cluster in Sabah and Selangor; Bah Pasir cluster in Negri Sembilan and Putrajaya; Bah Pengkalan cluster in Perak; and, Saguking cluster in Labuan.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the index cases for the Olive, Bah Pasir and Bah Pengkalan clusters were from screenings of individuals returning from high-risk areas in Sabah.

He said the Olive cluster involved the Hulu Langat district in Selangor, and Penampang and Kota Marudu in Sabah.

Dr Noor Hisham said the index case, Case 11,489, was found positive on Oct 2 and had since been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

He said another 16 cases were identified during close contact screenings.

As for the Bah Pasir cluster, it involved Putrajaya and the Port Dickson district in Negri Sembilan.

"The index case, Case 14,329, was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Oct 8. The case is now receiving treatment at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban. Another four cases were detected in the close contact screenings.

"As of noon today, 82 individuals have been screened, where five were tested positive, 74 were found negative and three still waiting for their results."

The Bah Pengkalan cluster was detected in Hulu Perak district in Perak. Its index cases, Case 14,345 and Case 14,346, were confirmed positive on Oct 8 and had been admitted to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh.

"Another five cases were identified during close contact screenings. A total of 330 individuals have taken the test, where six were confirmed positive, 47 found to be negative and 277 pending results."

For the Saguking cluster which was detected in Labuan, Dr Noor Hisham said five cases were recorded as of noon today after its index case, Case 15657, tested positive on Oct 11.

"The index case tested positive during the pre-admission screening at Labuan Hospital on Oct 11.

"Four other cases were identified in the close contact screenings. Forty-three individuals were screened as of noon, five were positive, three tested negative and 35 others are awaiting results."
