KOTA KINABALU: Most businesses, industries and economic activities in Sabah can operate or proceed as normal during the ongoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said it is therefore unnecessary for companies and entrepreneurs to request permission from the state Covid-19 Disaster Management Committee to conduct business activities.
Nevertheless, open markets, night markets, agriculture markets, entertainment outlets, pubs, cinemas, gambling outlets, massage parlours, reflexology centres and beauty centres (including manicurists and pedicurists) are not permitted to operate.
Masidi, who is also Finance Minister II, stressed that different standard operating procedures (SOP) apply in the 10 localities in Sabah under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
"Following the enforcement of the CMCO throughout Sabah beginning Oct 13, all previous orders (including EMCO SOPs) involving 10 districts under EMCO are no longer (valid)," Masidi said.
Sabah yesterday recorded 304 new Covid-19 cases and three additional deaths.
The new cases are in Kota Kinabalu (58), Tawau (31), Semporna (33), Lahad Datu (29), Sandakan (21), Tuaran (15), Kunak (13), Papar (16), Penampang (19), Putatan (11), Kota Belud (16), Keningau (2), Beaufort (6), Sipitang (3), Tambunan (5), Kudat (18), Pitas (1), Tenom (1), and Kota Marudu (6).
As of yesterday, the state government had distributed 26,178 food baskets to those in need.
