EMCO imposed on two Labuan villages, over 8,000 affected [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be imposed on Kampung Saguking Laut and Kampung Sebur Baru in Labuan, from Oct 21 to Nov 3.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 8,062 residents of the two villages will be affected.

He said the government decided to implement the EMCO to prevent the movement of people in and out of the villages, which will help health authorities contain the Covid-19 outbreak in the areas.

"It will also enable the Health Ministry to conduct Covid-19 screening on affected villagers," he said during his daily press conference today.

The EMCO on the villages, he said, will be enforced by the police, together with the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Immigration Department.
