Covid-19: Gelang Patah Maybank closed for deep cleaning

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has temporarily closed its branch in Gelang Patah, Johor after an employee came into close contact with a Person Under Investigation (PUI) for Covid-19.

In a notice posted at the branch's entrance, the bank said the closure was to give way for deep cleaning and sanitisation.

A nearby branch in Taman Perling, when contacted, confirmed the closure.

"We would like to stress the person tested positive for Covid-19 is not a Maybank employee and the close contact was made at an external location, not within the branch.

"As an added precaution, it (the branch) will not be opened until the employee concerned has been tested negative," the notice read.

Maybank also assured that it would work with the relevant authorities to ensure all health regulations were adhered to keep its branches safe.

Maybank customers in the Gelang Patah area have been advised to utilise Maybank2u, Maybank2uBiz and Maybank2E digital platforms.

Alternatively, they can also visit the bank's branches in Taman Perling and Bukit Nenas.
