Senator Ras Adiba confirms special officer Covid-19 positive

KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Negara senator Ras Adiba Radzi confirmed her special officer has contracted Covid-19.

In a statement today, Ras Adiba said Ras Afiona Radzi, who is also her sister, tested positive for the virus after being screened recently and currently warded at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"Ten other family members and me are waiting for results from our Covid-19 screening.

"I would like to apologise if I have burdened any party following this incident.

"However, I accept any challenge that may come. I hope that the Almighty will protect us all from this pandemic," she said.

Earlier today, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Parliamentary affairs Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan revealed that several Dewan Negara staff had tested positive for the coronavirus while several senators were now under the suspected list.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, he assured that Parliament had been sanitised in accordance with the National Security Council's standard operating procedures.

He also tabled a motion for today's parliament sitting to be adjourned at 1pm as a preventive measure against Covid-19.
