KUALA LUMPUR: The ceiling price for the Covid-19 vaccine offered to Malaysia under the Covid-19 Global Vaccine Access (Covax) plan is US$21 (RM87.60) each.
Science, Technology and Innovations Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Malaysia is still negotiating with Covax on the vaccine procurement process which is at its final stage.
"The discussion on the vaccine is now at its final stage. Official discussions are also being done with with the Finance Ministry, Health Ministry and Attorney-General's Department to study a few clauses in the Covax agreement.
"We hope that we are able to sign the Covax soon, but this is only part of what we (Malaysia) need in the acquiring of the vaccine.
"The bigger part of this procurement process will be achieved via two-way negotiations between Malaysia and other countries," he told the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was responding to an additional question by Datuk Zakaria Edris (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia-Libaran) on what is the indicative price for the Covid-19 vaccine and latest developments in the matter's discussion between Malaysia under Covax.
