Sandakan: One EMCO ends, another extended

KUALA LUMPUR: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) imposed in Taman Mawar in Sandakan, Sabah ends as scheduled today.

However the EMCO in Taman Mesra, also in Sandakan, is extended another 14 days until Nov 24.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said active Covid-19 cases in the area is still high, hence the need to extend the EMCO.

1,124 individuals there have been screened with 134 testing positive for the virus. 43 have recovered however the remaining 91 are still receiving treatment.

"The meeting today has agreed to extend the EMCO for another two weeks from Nov 11 to Nov 24," he said in his daily press conference on non-health matters pertaining to the Covid-19 pandemic today.

In Taman Mawar, a total of 731 individuals were screened with 87 testing positive.

Ismail Sabri said 64 of them have recovered while another 23 are still being treated.
