Covid-19 patient who fled from Penang hospital found

GEORGE TOWN: A suspected Covid-19 patient who cut his pink wristband and fled from the Penang Hospital yesterday, was picked up several hours later.

The 23-year-old was spotted at a row of shophouses in Bayan Lepas about 9pm.

He was then escorted by several health workers in full personal protective gear back to the hospital in an ambulance.

It is learnt that the man had walked a distance of 25km from the hospital to Bayan Lepas.

State Health Department director Dr Asmayani Khalib confirmed that the man had been found and taken back to hospital.

She, however, declined to elaborate further.

It was reported that the man, who is receiving treatment at the hospital, left his ward about 3.20pm yesterday.

The man, who was last seen wearing a white shirt and pants, left his pink wristband on his hospital bed.
