RMCO: Many still frequenting night clubs

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested 381 people nationwide for flouting the Recovery Movement Control Order's (RMCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) yesterday.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement said of the total, 377 were issued compounds, while another four were remanded.

The offences were activities at nightclubs (96), not wearing face masks (80), activities that made physical distancing difficult (69), failure to provide equipment for registering the entry of patrons (57), interstate or interdistrict travel without permission (33) and others (46).

He said the police had also conducted 57,448 inspections on SOP compliance nationwide.

On mandatory quarantine, Ismail Sabri said 72,182 individuals had arrived in the country since July 24.

They have been placed at 74 hotels, 18 public training institutes, and several private learning institutions across the country.

"A total of 9,855 individuals are undergoing mandatory quarantine, while 404 others were sent to hospitals for treatment," he said, adding that 61,923 individuals had been discharged and allowed to go home.

The returnees had flown in from 36 countries.

Meanwhile, on Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said the authorities detained 20 illegal immigrants and three smugglers yesterday, as 278 roadblocks were mounted nationwide.

He said nine vehicles were seized during the operations.

Ismail Sabri also said 35 sanitisation operations were held in nine red zones, three orange zones, six yellow zones and nine green zones nationwide.

The operations were conducted in Pahang, Sabah, Pulau Pinang, Johor, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Perak, Kelantan, Selangor, Perlis, Kuala Lumpur and Labuan.

Ismail Sabri added the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs carried out inspections yesterday on 12 daily essential items at 482 retailers, 160 wholesalers, and 31 manufacturers.

"The ministry's enforcement staff conducted 1,045 operations on SOP compliance checks.

"Only three premises were found not complying with the RMCO's SOPs."
