SOPs relaxed in Sabah despite CMCO extension

KUALA LUMPUR: Several Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) in Sabah have been relaxed despite the 14-day extension of the Conditional Movement Order (CMCO) in the state.

Among them include the admission of individuals for social purposes (social visit pass) among MyKad, MyPR, MyKAS holders; valid long-term immigration pass (non-citizen) holders; and dependents or spouses of Sabahans.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said admission for non-citizens who do not have a long-term immigration passport, however, must be approved by the Sabah state government.

"All individuals who will enter Sabah through air, sea, and land entry points must undergo RT-PCR or RTK-Ag Covid-19 detection test swab, three days before they travel.

"Only individuals who do not have symptoms, and with negative test results, will be allowed to enter Sabah," he said, adding police permission for interdistrict and interstate travel was not required.

Ismail Sabri said there would be no limit for the number of passengers in a private vehicle unlike during the CMCO.

"(However), express buses, tour buses and train services traversing interdistrict are allowed to operate with a 50 per cent passenger capacity limit.

"The operators must adhere to the SOP such as wearing face masks and physical distancing."

He said the movement of small boats from the islands in the state to the mainland, including boats in the coastal areas, would be allowed with only 50 per cent capacity from 6am to 6pm daily.

"Scuba diving activities are allowed to operate. But the passenger capacity for boats ferrying divers to the diving site is limited to 50 per cent, as set by the state's tourism, culture, and environment ministry."

He said restaurants, shops, food stalls, hawkers, and convenience stores were allowed to operate from 6am to midnight.

"Tourism activities are allowed with limited capacity and must comply with the state's domestic travel bubble SOPs.

"As for tuition classes, music classes, dance classes, art classes, paid study classes and paid language classes are also allowed to operate with no more than five people at a time."

CMCO in all states have been lifted except for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah.

However, it is still enforced in certain districts and sub-districts with active cases.

The CMCO in Sabah is now extended until Dec 20.
