Port Klang helicopter crash: CAAM to conduct probe

PUTRAJAYA: A safety investigation will be carried out on the helicopter crash at Pulau Indah, Port Klang, Selangor, today.

The probe will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Transport Ministry, in accordance with Part XXVI Civil Aviation Regulations 2016, said Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chief executive officer, Captain Chester Voo.

He confirmed that a Robinson R66 helicopter crashed near Pulau Indah at between 9.45am and 10am today.

"The helicopter, operated by My Heli Club, departed Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang at 9.05am and was operating in Pulau Indah airspace from 9.21am.

"The pilot reported normal operations at 9.45am and no emergency call was received by the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Centre following that," Voo said in a statement.

He added that upon receiving notification of the accident, CAAM activated the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre.

The two local pilots were reported to have sustained injuries but are in stable condition, he said.
