No dine-ins in MCO areas

KUALA LUMPUR: No dine-ins will be allowed in states affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said all restaurants and hawker stalls in MCO states were only allowed to operate for take aways, while states under the Conditional MCO and Recovery MCO can open based on existing standard operating procedures (SOP).

Also allowed to operate, he added, were food delivery services supermarkets, health services including clinics, hospitals and pharmacies, and banks, subject to strict SOP compliance.

"Obey to the SOP when being at these places such as correctly putting on face masks, practising physical distancing, and frequent use of hand sanitisers.

"If there is no important or immediate need, don't leave your homes. Stay at home," he said in a special address today.

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has assured enough supply in all retail sectors, he said, adding that monitoring of essentials such as sugar, cooking oil, wheat flour, rice, white bread, powdered milk, chicken, vegetables, eggs, onions, hand sanitisers and face masks would be conducted daily.

Five states and the Federal Territories would be placed under the MCO for two weeks starting 12.01am on Wednesday.

The affected states are Selangor, Johor, Penang, Melaka, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

Muhyiddin also said Kedah, Perak, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu will be placed under the Conditional MCO during the same period.

Perlis and Sarawak, he said, will continue to observe the Recovery MCO.
