BAC Education Group helping B40 students prepare for SPM

KUALA LUMPUR: After almost a year of alternating between physical and online classes, students due to sit for their Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) examinations on Feb 22 are maximising any assistance they can get on and off the internet.

Among the resources available are the online classes offered by the Brickfields Asia College (BAC) Education Group, which is aimed at assisting SPM students from the B40 community.

The group's managing director, Raja Singham, said they are looking for ways to reach out and help these students.

"Education is a means out of poverty and we want to help educate every child in the country, and are committed to digitising and creating free content for all schoolchildren to ensure no one is left behind.

"We want to focus on ensuring students from the B40 group and rural areas have adequate internet access to access the vast learning resources available online including our portals.

"We want to work with the federal and state governments to make this happen and are prepared to fund it," he said in a statement, today.

To date, SPMflix.com is the largest and most comprehensive free SPM education portal, which was established in Sept 2017.

The portal has seen more than 70,000 students studying for free on its platform, while about 2,000 teachers have attended curated workshops on blended learning and the use of technology in the classroom.

"We must ensure all Malaysian schoolchildren can access portals like SPMflix.com so that their education is never interrupted and all Malaysians have equitable access to education," Raja said.

Students can reach out and send their queries via WhatsApp, through the Tanya Cikgu' tab, to connect with experienced teachers registered with the portal.

In addition to the 8,700 constantly-updated tutorial videos, the portals offer annual SPM Seminars, including online classes covering exam areas, tips and answering techniques for all 12 subjects in both English and Malay.
