3,585 Covid-19 cases today; Selangor still highest

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia continues to record four-digit daily Covid-19 cases at 3,585 today.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement said only two new cases were imported while the rest were of local transmissions.

The cumulative tally, he said now stands at 190,434, of which 40,574 are active cases.

He said Selangor topped the list with the most new cases after logging 1,295 cases as of noon today, followed by Kuala Lumpur (610 cases) and Johor (516 cases).

Another 11 deaths have been reported today, raising the total number of Covid-19 fatalities to 700.

Four victims who succumbed to the virus were from Kuala Lumpur, three from Sarawak and one each from Perak, Johor, Selangor and Penang.

Dr Noor Hisham said of the figure 10 fatalities involved Malaysians while one death involved a foreigner.

On recoveries, he said 4,076 patients had been discharged today, taking the total number of recoveries to 149,160.

"A total of 280 patients are being treated at intensive care units nationwide, with 111 of them on ventilator support."
