No house visits for this year's CNY [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese New Year celebration is limited only at home, with family members living in the same house, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the decision was made during the National Security Council special meeting today.

He said the same standard operating procedure also applied for reunion dinners on Chinese New Year's eve and prayers at temples.

"Those celebrating Chinese New Year are encouraged to perform prayers at home."

However, Ismail Sabri said prayers at temples are allowed for up to five temple committee members.

Ismail Sabri added that cultural activities such as lion and dragon dances and operas are also not allowed.

Ismail Sabri said just like Hari Raya Aidilfitri last year, inter-state and district travel are not allowed.
