Activities at entertainment outlets top SOP violation

KUALA LUMPUR: Activities at entertainment outlets topped the list of 442 violations of the Movement Control Order's (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) yesterday.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the breakdown of the violations on Saturday comprised entertainment activities (144); failure to observe physical distancing (88); failing to provide registration equipment at premises (80); not wearing face mask (71); opening premises beyond permitted hours (8) and others (51).

He said a total of 430 were slapped with compounds while 11 were remanded and one granted bail.

On the compliance operation task force, Ismail Sabri said the police conducted 63,822 inspections nationwide.

Among the locations checked were 4,314 supermarkets; 6,217 restaurants; 2,578 hawker stalls; 1,709 factories; 3,923 banks and 866 government offices nationwide.

As for Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 102 illegal immigrants were nabbed, while four land vehicles were seized.

He said the operations involving the police, armed forces, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Malaysian Border Security Agency, and other security agencies mounted 447 roadblocks yesterday.

Ismail Sabri said 1,112 individuals arrived at international entry points yesterday and all were ordered to undergo quarantine.

He said 94 sanitisation operations were carried out yesterday throughout the country involving 32 red zones, five orange zones, 11 yellow zones, and three green zones.
