Hizbut Tahrir not allowed to distribute leaflets, hold public talks in Johor

KULAI: Hizbut Tahrir Malaysia (HTM) is not allowed to conduct activities such as distributing leaflets or holding public talks in the state said Johor State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Tosrin Jarvanthi.

Tosrin said the Islamic ideology propagated by HTM had been declared as contradicting the Islamic beliefs of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah by the state Fatwa Committee since 2019.

"JAINJ (Johor Islamic Religious Department) will not remain silent and will oppose all HTM activities," he told Bernama after attending the Kulai district World Water Day Celebration, at Kampung Sri Gunung Sri Pulai, here today.

He said this when asked to comment on a video uploaded on HTM's official Facebook page showing its activity of distributing leaflets to the public.

Tosrin said no report was lodged regarding the activity, however, action would be taken to address the matter.

He said the JAINJ enforcement division would identify the venues where the distribution of leaflets and talks took place before the matter can be brought to its prosecution division. - Bernama
