Five new workplace clusters and one cluster linked to a social event identified today

KUALA LUMPUR: Six new Covid-19 clusters were identified by the Health Ministry today, with five linked to workplace infections in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Melaka and Negri Sembilan.

The other cluster involved community transmission from a social event in Kedah, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In Selangor, the Lorong Dua Cluster in the Petaling and Kuala Selangor districts logged the highest number of infections with 41 cases among factory workers who were found positive following a mass screening from March 30.

The premises are located at Lorong 2B, Jalan TUDM in Kampung Subang Baru in Shah Alam.

So far, 332 individuals have been screened.

The Taman Komersial Cluster in Hulu Langat registered 14 positive cases following a mass targeted screening conducted on factory workers of a premises in Jalan 6/5, Pandan Indah Commercial Centre.

The cases in the cluster were reported positive from March 26 onwards where so far, 23 individuals have been tested.

The Jalan Inovasi Cluster in the Cheras and Titiwangsa districts in Kuala Lumpur as well as the Putrajaya district recorded 14 positive cases among cafeteria workers.

The cluster's index Case 342,377 was found to be positive on March 29 after a close contact screening. So far, 49 individuals have been tested.

In Melaka, the Jalan Mata Kuching Cluster in the Melaka Tengah district, which involves an education centre in Jalan Taming Sari, registered 16 positive cases.

The cluster's index Case 331,612 was found positive on March 20 in a pre-operative testing. A total of 67 individuals have been screened.

In Negri Sembilan, the Persiaran Utama Cluster in Seremban recorded 18 positive cases, all of whom are workers of a service company located at Persiaran Utama S2, Garden Homes.

They were reported positive from April 3 following a mass targeted screening where to date, 90 individuals have been tested.

In Kedah, the community infection linked to the Bukit Sera Cluster emerged following a social event held at Kampung Bukit Sera, Batu 3, Jalan Kuala Ketil in Sungai Petani, Kuala Muda.

So far, 13 positive cases have been detected after the index Case 347,804 was found to be infected with Covid-19 following a symptomatic individual screening on Apr 2.

Until today, 18 individuals have been tested.

Dr Noor Hisham said there are 355 active clusters, with 48 recording new cases.

Clusters that recorded the most number of new infections today were Jalan Jelawat (34), Kampung Binyu (34) and Pulau Enoe (14).

Ten clusters had ended today, including the Jalan Haji Malek, Nilam Sari Construction Site, Jalan Wawasan 12, Jalan Tampoi Besi, Jalan Sungai Jelok Prison and Kampung Telekong clusters.
