JCorp, JPNJ tie-up to implement educational programmes for Johor students

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Education Department (JPNJ) and Yayasan Johor Corporation (Yayasan JCorp) have formed a partnership to implement educational programmes for students in the state.

Yayasan JCorp chairman Rozaini Mohd Sani said the collaboration reflects the commitment of the foundation in providing a quality educational platform for school students, undergraduates, teachers and parents.

He said the programmes envisaged will focus on education, arts, culture and heritage, environmental preservation and conservation, and community well-being.

He stressed the development of human capital is the cardinal aim of the partnership that Yayasan Jcorp is forging with JPNJ.

"This is consistent with our vision to be the leading institution in improving the quality of life and socioeconomic well-being of people from all walks of life," said Rozaini at the launch of the JCorp- JPNJ partnership at the Austin International Convention Centre, here, today.

Speaking of the thrust of the programmes that Yayasan Jcorp and JPNJ will implement he said that it would be based on "learning through the use of digital technology" which he said is becoming vitally important in the digital age.

Rozaini said the programmes will strive to make online tuition learning successful.

Also, he said programmes such as webinars, quizzes, online competitions, and digital book reading by students would also be popularised.

The programmes being drawn up will have an entrepreneurial aspect through what is called the "Sustainable School" project, he said.

"The entrepreneurial aspect will be a major item through the introduction of sustainability programmes or Sustainable School where schools and students together have the opportunity to increase and expand business activities and generate returns," he said.

He envisioned students engaged in the programmes as being able to develop thinking and communication skills, being able to appreciate the importance of tenacity, leadership, teamwork and network-generating skills.

Johor Education Department director Shaharuddin Saari expressed gratitude to Omar Salleh, deputy director of education for the student development sector and his committee, for liaising with Yayasan JCorp in planning and implementing the entire partnership.

"Based on the current situation, every plan and action taken needs to be refined because of the impact of Covid- 19 on the education sector", he said.

Before the launch ceremony, attendees watched a multimedia clip presented by Yayasan Jcorp that depicted the foundation's vision for the future.

The event ended with the presentation of certificates of appointment by Rozaini to 11 JPNJ liaison officers.

The officers will coordinate activities with their counterparts in Jcorp which will be based on the subject matter of each officer's expertise.

Eleven programmes have been drawn up for this year.

JPNJ officer, Norwahidah Md. Kassim said she will have to function as a facilitator and organise suitable programmes for students in collaboration with Yayasan Jcorp.

Another JPNJ officer Muhammad Hilmi Ismail said he will be handling reading programmes to promote reading among school students to enhance their literacy.

"We will try to utilise video activities through the online platform and the use of social media," he added.
