78 arrested for SOP violations

KUALA LUMPUR: Thirty-five out of 78 individuals arrested by police during the compliance operations yesterday had failed to observe physical distancing.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 22 people were caught crossing state/district without permission, not using MySejahtera application (11), and not wearing face masks (10).

He said that 74 were slapped with compounds while four were remanded.

The Compliance Operations Task Force led by the police conducted 62,577 inspections yesterday.

A total of 3,450 compliance teams, comprising 15,446 personnel, checked 5,689 restaurants, 4,601 supermarkets, 2,081 factories, 4,174 banks, 967 government offices, and 2,979 hawkers.

Also inspected were 2,198 markets/agro-markets, 2,874 places of worship, 1,766 recreations places, 1,387 land transport terminals, 455 water transport terminals and 156 air transport terminals.

Ismail Sabri said a total of 49 illegal immigrants were rounded up with 13 vehicles seized during Op Benteng yesterday.

The authorities also detected 81 boats and ships in the country's waters.

A total of 256 roadblocks were also mounted nationwide yesterday.

On public sanitation operations, he said the Fire and Rescue Department along with the local authorities conducted 88 sanitisation exercises in 20 red zones, eight orange zones, 13 yellow zones, and three green zones nationwide yesterday.

He said all 1,300 returnees who arrived at the international arrival points were ordered to undergo the mandatory quarantine at designated centres nationwide.
