More test Covid-19 positive in Klang and Kepong churches

KUALA LUMPUR: Three more positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported at Our Lady of Lourdes (OLL) Church in Klang.

This comes in the heels of yesterday's disclosure by parish priest Reverand Father Frederic Joseph that a parishoner who attended mass over the weekend had tested positive.

Another Catholic church - Gereja Jesus Caritas - in Kepong here today also disclosed via its parish priest Reverand Father Michael Chua, in a letter, that one of its parishoners had tested positive.

He said scheduled masses would continue without interruption.

Masses at OLL in Klang, however, have been temporarily suspended, according to a public service announcement.

"As Assistant Parish Priest Father Bonaventure Rayappan and I may have come into close contact with the said persons, we will undergo testing and observe self-quarantine for 10 days," Father Joseph said.

"As an added precaution and at the direction of His Grace Archbishop Julian Leow, and the recommendation of the Archdiocesan Crisis Management Task Force, we will be suspending all masses with immediate effect until May 4," he added.

"We would strongly recommend that if you had attended masses on April 24, that you not attend masses in any other parish until May 4.

"The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays remains dispensed and you may continue to follow the live streaming of the Masses from TV.ArchKL.org."
