Daily Covid-19 cases dip below 3,000 mark

KUALA LUMPUR: After three days of exceeding the 3,000 mark, the number of new Covid-19 cases nationwide dipped to 2,881 today.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a posting on his Twitter account revealed that Selangor recorded the highest number of new infections at 759 cases, as of noon today.

This was followed by Sarawak with 445 cases and Kelantan with 442 cases.

Other states recording three-digit cases were Johor (310); Kuala Lumpur (315), Penang (133) and Kedah (111).

The states which recorded cases in the two-digit were Sabah (64), Negri Sembilan (89), Perak (64), Melaka (54), Pahang (47) and Terengganu (42).

Only Labuan and Putrajaya recorded three coronavirus cases each while Perlis had no new cases.

He said as of noon, there were 2,881 cases registered in the country, the lowest number of new infections after the nation recorded cases exceeding the 3,000 mark, for three days.

Of the new cases today, 2,865 involved local transmissions, of which 2,609 were Malaysians and 256 were foreigners.

16 cases were imported involving five locals and 11 foreigners.

Meanwhile Dr Noor Hisham said 2,462 more patients have recovered, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 380,442.
