4PAM: Tajuddin's manner at press conference 'rude and disgusting'

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Public Transport Users Association (4PAM) today slammed Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for his conduct during a press conference yesterday.

Its president Ajit Johl said Tajuddin's press conference after his visit to the location where two LRT trains along the Kelana Jaya line were involved in a collision on Monday night was nothing short of rude and disgusting.

"He (Tajuddin) claimed that he was away in Subang, and could not reach the accident site, and received the information late.

"This clear disregard of passenger care is unbecoming of a chairman of an organisation, that involves transporting human lives daily.

"Hence, we urge the prime minister (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) to intervene immediately and remove him (Tajuddin)," he said, adding a set up of the Public Transport Safety Tribunal was needed with users represented in this inquiry.

Ajit said adding salt to injury was the assistance offered of RM1,000 for the 213 passengers.

"What about the rest of the passengers who may have suffered light injuries such as whiplash, soft tissue injuries, soreness, and inflammation which have yet to seek treatment or unaware that they can claim."

As such, Ajit said Prasarana must make it clear that the RM1,000 compensation should not be any kind of settlement amount which would prejudice the passengers in their legal pursuit.

"The compensation should only be seen as assistance.

"4PAM urges passengers who have been involved in the accident, to consult lawyers before taking any offer or signing any documents offered by Prasarana."

He said 4PAM legal advisors are offering their legal service to all the passengers and urge them to come forward.

"Affected passengers can send an email to aduan@4pam.org and we will be advice all passengers on possible remedies."

Yesterday, Tajuddin said a special aid of RM1,000 each would be given to the 213 passengers irrespective of their condition whether serious or not serious.
