KUALA LUMPUR: Media personnel will receive their Covid-19 vaccination starting Wednesday.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the media, including journalists and photographers will receive their appointment dates starting today.
"Starting today, media personnel will start receiving their appointment dates. However, the list with the number of media personnel is currently at the final stages of verification," he said after visiting the KLCC vaccination centre which started operations today.
The issue of Covid-19 vaccination for media personnel was raised in April as the group, also considered frontliners, had yet to receive their vaccination appointments through the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) which started in February.
Yesterday, the hashtag #CucukMyPress and #VaccineForMediaMY were started by media personnel nationwide.
On April 28, Khairy in a Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) press conference, announced that about 1,500 media personnel were to be vaccinated in May.
