Daily Covid-19 cases spiking again [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia logged 6,440 new Covid-19 positive cases as of noon today, bringing the tally to 685,204 since the pandemic broke last year.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of infections with 2,095 followed by Negri Sembilan (870) and Kuala Lumpur (816), said the Health Ministry on its official Facebook account.

There are 199 confirmed cases in Sabah, 592 in Johor, 536 in Sarawak, 200 in Kelantan, 122 in Penang, 357 in Perak, 159 in Kedah, 223 in Melaka, 79 in Pahang, 32 in Terengganu, 152 in Labuan, six in Putrajaya and two in Perlis.

All of the cases are local transmissions except for five import cases while there are 65,602 active cases.

The ministry said 74 patients died of the virus today taking the cumulative fatalities to 4,276.

There are 894 patients being treated in the Intensive Care Units including 451 requiring breathing assistance.

There are 6,861 patients who have recovered from the virus making the total 615,326.
