Bikers fined for taking part in convoy

KAJANG: 15 bikers riding high-powered motorcycles were each issued with a RM5,000 compound for participating in a convoy along Jalan Semenyih-Kuala Klawang here on Saturday.

The 15 motorcyclists, who were all geared up for the ride, had their excitement cut short when a team of policemen from the Kajang traffic division held a mobile roadblock and apprehended all 15 of them at about 10.25am.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the riders all aged between 18 and 41 had all breached the Movement Control Order's (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) by taking part in the convoy.

"Police received a tipoff about a group of bikers using that particular road as their racing track and decided to quietly put up a mobile roadblock at the entrance, where the group was nabbed.

"We kept the mobile roadblock for two days and also issued a total of 19 summonses for various traffic offences for both days," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Zaid said police will be carrying out roadblocks from time to time at the Jln Semenyih - Kuala Klawang road to make sure there is no repeat of such a violation.
