EMCO in various parts of Selangor, KL: What does this mean?

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor's major sub-districts and several Kuala Lumpur localities will go under a two-week Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from July 3.

What does this mean for those who will be affected by the EMCO?

1. All routes at EMCO areas to be closed and guarded by the police.

2. All residents at EMCO areas are not allowed to leave their homes except for one representative to buy essential items within a 10km radius.

3. The Health Ministry will conduct targeted screening on residents at affected areas.

4. Those with vaccination appointments can cross state or district lines to vaccination centres by showing their MySejahtera details.

5. Airports and ports are allowed to operate and public transport can operate with 50 per cent capacity.

6. Only two people allowed including driver inside taxi or e-hailing vehicles.

7. No movement outside residential areas after 8pm except for emergency cases or with permission from the police.

8. Only essential services are allowed to operate from 8am to 8pm such as utilities, cleaning and sewerage services.

9. Only food and essential items manufacturers can operate such as production of rice, bread loaves, sugar, cooking oil, flour, fresh milk, baby powder milk, medicines and face mask.

10. Work permission only for the essential services or those carrying out official government duties and must have letters from employers or a valid staff pass.

11. Workers from non-essential services are not allowed to leave the EMCO areas and work at offices. Employers must allow their workers to work from home.

12. Only essential services employees and factories as well as business premises can use the Miti letters issued before this.

13. Restaurants, food outlets/stalls, food trucks, roadside hawkers, food court, roadside food stalls/kiosks can operate from 8am to 8pm.

14. Only food take aways, drive-thru or delivery are allowed.

15. Grocery stores, convenience stores, sundry shops can operate between 8am and 8pm.

16. Pharmacies, medicine shops, veterinaries, pet food outlets allow to operate between 8am and 8pm.

17. Petrol stations can operate from 6am to 8pm except for those located at tolled highways which can operate 24 hours.

18. Wholesale markets can operate between 12am and 6am.

19. Public markets, permanent farmers' markets (pasar tani kekal) and MyFarm Outlets can operate from 6am to 2pm.

20. All sports, social, recreational and culture activities are banned.
