EMCO in Bandar Bukit Jalil apartment, flats in Taman Nuri, Sandakan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sri Rakyat Apartment in Bandar Bukit Jalil and Block 11 and 12 flats at Lorong 4, Taman Nuri, Sandakan, will come under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from July 11 to July 24 to break the chain of Covid-19 infection in the two areas.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the two-week EMCO was aimed at restricting the movement of individuals and prevent the coronavirus from spreading to other localities.

He said the same set of EMCO standard operating procedures (SOP) would be enforced in these two areas.

Ismail who is also Defence Minister said Health Ministry's surveillance at Sri Rakyat Apartment revealed that there was an increase in Covid-19 cases in the area.

As of now, 94 out of 598 residents tested positive for Covid-19.

"The infectivity rate is high in Block 11 and Block 12 of Lorong 4, Taman Nuri, Sabah, as from the 16 screenings conducted by the Health Ministry, nine individuals were found positive," he said in a statement today.

He also announced a six-day extension of the EMCO in Jalan Kubur, Kuala Lumpur, as a new coronavirus infection was reported in the locality.

"The EMCO in Jalan Kubur was scheduled to end today (July 9), however, Health Ministry informed that new cases are still reported in the locality. Hence, the government has decided to extend the EMCO till July 15," he said.
