HTAR thanks MIC for contributing cold storage container

KUALA LUMPUR: The Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang recorded its appreciation to the MIC for its contribution of a cold storage container to place the bodies of Covid-19 fatalities pending funeral arrangements.

In a Facebook posting, HTAR expressed gratitude to MIC for its support in managing the Covid-19 pandemic in the Klang district and Selangor as a whole.

In a video, Mohd Azhar Osman, who was assigned by the party to make the delivery, said he was glad that HTAR had agreed to accept the container worth RM35,000 after it had initially refused.

"Alhamdulillah, at last the container is allowed in (the hospital compound) and it is parked at the Forensic Department.

"I want to thank the Health Ministry, its secretary-general, minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and HTAR director who had eased the contribution process to store the bodies of Covid-19 patients.

"As we all know, in Selangor, the number of deaths due to Covid-19 is rising. So please accept our contribution," he said.

Mohd Azhar had earlier gone on social media to lament his disappointment claiming that HTAR which was initially agreeable to the contribution had suddenly said no three hours later.

In a video of him standing in front of HTAR, Mohd Azhar said they found out that there were too many dead bodies that needed a proper storage place.

"We want to assist them, not asking for any payment and we do not have (ulterior) motive. First they said okay but three hours later, the director rejected, saying that they will be receiving eight containers tomorrow," he said.
