131,706 Covid-19 tests carried out yesterday, highest over two-week period

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry yesterday (July 13) carried out 131,706 Covid-19 tests, both RT-PCR and RTK-Ag, the highest over a two-week period.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the high number of targeted screening exercise in the Klang Valley subsequently led to a surge in daily number of Covid-19 cases.

"We still have the capacity to carry out more testing, especially at private labs. This capacity will be fully utilised to conduct more Covid-19 screening in a strategic manner," he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Dr Noor Hisham said the country would see a spike in daily Covid-19 cases for the next two weeks as the number of tests had increased to 120,000 daily compared to between 80,000 and 90,000 previously.
