More leeway under NRP Phase 1 and 2

KUALA LUMPUR: Being able to cycle and engage in individual games in neighbourhoods with physical distancing in mind to the extension of operation hours of daily markets as well as permitted outdoor filming are some of the activities the government has allowed under Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan. (NRP)

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government has agreed to make slight changes to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) based on the positive development of the nation's Covid-19 vaccination rates.

Those who want to indulge in cycling and individual games could do so in neighbourhoods provided they were two to three meters apart.

The operation hours of daily and wet markets will be lengthened from 6am to 4pm and subject to the orders of the local authorities with compliance of the SOP and under the supervision of the local authority and People's Volunteers Corp.

Controlled Fresh Markets are allowed to operate from 7 am to 2pm, said the Defence Minister.

"The public sector's office attendance will also be increased to 40 per cent to increase productivity and be subjected to the orders of the Chief Secretary to the Government," said Ismail Sabri.

Mining and quarries operations with 60 per cent of employee capacity are also allowed and to be subject to its SOP.

Ismail Sabri said this was to fulfil the need of critical projects involving the repair and construction of roads, those in rural as well as federal areas.

As for Phase 2 of the NRP, outdoor filming will be allowed with tight SOP and business operational hours will be from 6am to 10pm, including petrol stations
