61 premises ordered to close due to SOP violation

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 61 premises were ordered to shut down for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP).

Senior Foreign Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said that was part of the 209,879 inspections and snap checks conducted by the Compliance Operation Task Force nationwide yesterday.

Checks were done on 1,405 factories, 15,908 business premises, 649 construction sites and 170 workers' living quarters.

"At the same time 290 individuals were also detained for flouting the SOP. Of the total, 219 were issued compounds and the remaining 71 were remanded," he said in a statement today.

On border control, Hishammuddin said some 52 illegal migrants were detained and one land vehicle was seized during Op Benteng yesterday.

He added armed forces, police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Immigration Department, Customs Department, Malaysian Border Security Agency and other agencies mounted 890 roadblocks under Op Benteng.

Meanwhile, a total of 881 individuals arriving at the international entry points were instructed to observe mandatory quarantine.

To date, 9,334 returnees are still quarantined at 83 hotels, 11 public training institutes and private education institutes nationwide.

Yesterday, the Fire and Rescue Department, along with the local authorities, had carried out 264 disinfection operations in 94 red zones and two yellow zones.
