HTAR welcomes donation of oxygen concentrators

SHAH ALAM: The Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang welcomes donations from the public especially of oxygen concentrator devices to tackle the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases at the hospital.

Its director, Dr Zulkarnain Mohd Rawi, said such donations would be very much appreciated to help the patients and ease the burden of the frontliners.

"Without these contributions, we will surely be handicapped in assisting Covid-19 patients," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

HTAR in its Facebook posting on Saturday said the hospital had received a bus, courtesy of philanthropist and preacher Ebit Lew to ferry Covid-19 patients to quarantine centres.

Besides the bus, the hospital also received 12 units of oxygen concentrators and other medical equipment from two non-governmental organisations under the Khidmat Malaysia Negeri Selangor, namely Papisma Selangor and Yayasan Amal Malaysia, as well as a container to store Covid-19 bodies from MIC.

In the meantime, Dr Zulkarnain also said the hospital will make way for a development project to build a field hospital with the cooperation of Mercy Malaysia and contributing 100 additional beds.

Earlier, HTAR had announced that the project would be handed over for use on Aug 4. - Bernama
