"Of the 17,105 cases reported today, 317 (1.9 per cent) are in Categories Three, Four and Five, while 16,788 (98.1 per cent) are in Categories One and Two.

"This is based on the current clinical conditions of newly diagnosed Covid-19 patients. There are some cases that remain in the same category throughout the infection period, but there are also those whose health status change to either improve to a better category or deteriorate," he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham added that in total, only 3,115 cases or 18.2 per cent of the cases reported today had a history of Covid-19 vaccination.

Most of those with a history of vaccination (3,041 people) were in categories one and two, who are either asymptomatic or only had minor symptoms.

He said 48 of those vaccinated were in category three (pneumonia), while 18 were in category four (pneumonia and needing oxygen). Only eight who had been inoculated were in category five (critical and requiring ventilator).

Currently, 1,066 patients were being warded in the intensive care unit, with 537 requiring ventilators.

He said all states reported an Rt higher than 1.0 except for Negri Sembilan (0.91), Perlis (0), and Labuan (0).
