More than 50pc of M'sia's adult population fully vaccinated against Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: With more than 50 per cent of the adult population fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of today, Malaysia is on the right track to achieve herd immunity.

The Vaccine Supplies Access Guarantee Special Committee reported this today through a social media post.

"Thank you to all involved. This hard work must continue," it said in a statement.

As of yesterday about 75.3 per cent of Malaysia's adult population received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Nearly 30 million Covid-19 shots have been distributed in Malaysia so far.

However, states like Sabah are lagging behind with only 25.8 of its adult population being fully inoculated.

The lowest vaccination rates in the country for states yet to fully vaccinate at least 40 per cent of its adult population include Johor (32.1 per cent), Kelantan (32.6 per cent), Kedah (33.9 per cent), Pahang (36.8 per cent), Perak (36.7 per cent) and Terengganu (38.4 per cent).

The highest vaccination rates are in Labuan where 90.2 per cent of the adult population are now completely vaccinated followed by Sarawak (82.5 per cent) and the Klang Valley (73.8 per cent) where operation surge capacity was conducted.

In Penang, 40.5 per cent of the adult population are fully vaccinated as of today followed by Melaka (42.3), Perlis (58.1 per cent) and Negri Sembilan (67.6 per cent).
