More than 50 Kelantan PPVs allow walk-in vaccination to locals

KOTA BARU: More than 50 Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs) in Kelantan have been directed to allow walk-in vaccinations

These PPVs are mostly in the Kota Baru district, and they allow locals to walk-in in an effort to expedite the state-level Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP).

Apart from schools and community halls, these walk-in PPVs are also set up at health clinics, mosques and district councils.

State Local Government, Health and Housing Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin said these PPVs had begun allowing walk-ins since Sunday.

He said each PPV has their own target of vaccination rates of between between 100 to 1,800 doses per day.

"Some of these PPVs will remain open until this weekend, while the rest will only provide for this exercise for a few days based on the vaccine supply," he said.

Checks at several PPVs showed that locals started to visit the centres in the town area soon after being informed about the walk-in programmes.

A PPV that allows for walk-ins is Istana Balai Besar, which is opened to the public from 8.30am until noon.

Many locals particularly traders grabbed the opportunity to leave their businesses for a while to get their vaccine jabs.
