MoH aims to fully vaccinate 23.4 million adults by Oct 24

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry (MoH) has projected that in 44 days, over 23.4 million adults in Malaysia will have been fully-vaccinated against Covid-19.

This target, said the ministry, is expected to be achieved by Oct 24.

It said that in 12 days on Sept 22, 80 per cent of the adult population or 18.7 million people would be completely inoculated.

This was based on yesterday's data uploaded on the Health Ministry's new Covid-19 website (https://covidnow.moh.gov.my/), which was unveiled by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

It also said that to date, more than 16.6 million adults in the country are now fully-vaccinated.

There are over 650,000 people waiting to get their first dose of the vaccine while some 1.6 million people have not registered to become vaccine recipients.

Data also showed that as of this month, 53.8 per cent of Pfizer vaccines and 36.6 per cent of Sinovac vaccines have been administered to recipients.

Some 8.7 per cent of Astra Zeneca vaccines and 0.9 Cansino vaccines were given to recipients.

Overall, since the start of the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP), the administration of Sinovac vaccines was the highest at 46.9 per cent followed by Pfizer at 45 per cent, Astra Zeneca at eight per cent and 0.1 per cent for Cansino.
