5.9 deaths per 100k people nationwide over the past 2 weeks, data shows

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's number of fatalities due to Covid-19 has now risen to 24,931 after 250 more deaths were recorded yesterday (Friday).

Of the 250 deaths, 49 were brought-in-dead (BID) cases bringing the tally to 4,887, according to the data shared by the Health Ministry on the CovidNow website as of 11.59pm last night.

The seven-day average of actual deaths was 91, a drop from 115 on Sept 23.

71 deaths were recorded in the Klang Valley; 65 in Selangor and six in Kuala Lumpur.

There were 43 deaths in Sabah, 41 in Johor, Sarawak (16), Perak (14), Kelantan (14), Pahang (nine), Kedah (six), Terengganu (six), Negri Sembilan (four), Melaka (three) while there are zero in Labuan.

Penang recorded the most number of deaths in the past two weeks with 15.6 deaths per 100,000 people followed by 11.2 in Johor and 7.6 in Sabah.

At the national level, there are 5.9 deaths per 100,000 people over the same period.

There are 195,837 active Covid-19 cases nationwide with 163,875 or 83.7 per cent of patients being home quarantined.

Another 20,786 patients or 10.6 per cent of them are placed at the Integrated Quarantine and Treatment Centre, while 10,121 patients or 5.2 per cent are hospitalised.

There are 1,055 patients warded at Intensive Care Units (ICU) with 595 on ventilator support.

CovidNow also stated that Kedah and Penang registered the highest ICU utilisation rate at 99.2 per cent while it was 86 per cent rate in Perak.

On vaccinations, 82.5 per cent of the adult population nationwide are now fully vaccinated, whil3 93.6 per cent have received at least one dose.

To date, 22.1 per cent of adolescents aged between 12 and 17 have received at least one dose, while 0.8 per cent have been fully vaccinated against the virus. The highest number of adolescents who have been immunised are in Labuan with 61.5 per cent.

In 46 days on Nov 10, 80 per cent of adolescents or 2.5 million are expected to be fully vaccinated after the immunisation for the age group began on Sept 8.

Data also showed that as of yesterday, 64.2 per cent of Pfizer vaccines had been dispensed this month followed by 26.3 per cent of Sinovac and 8.5 per cent of Astrazeneca. The administering of the Cansino vaccine was at 1 per cent.
