Watch: Boy, 8, impresses Johor Sultan with charity effort

JOHOR BARU: At an age where many are preoccupied with other less important things, a youngster here has become an inspiration to many people for his charity work.

At the age of 8-years-old and through the sale of a short work he produced entitled 'A Mysterious War to the Deep', Krishh Haran Nair has raised RM7,000 which he donated to the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ), making him the youngest contributor to the foundation.

Even Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar was impressed by the boy saying that the child's noble deed could be used as an example and inspiration for many.

The ruler also congratulated the boy's parents for raising a smart and kind child.

"I appreciate the initiative you have taken to help those in need and those efforts can serve as an inspiration for others," said the ruler.

Krishh Haran spent a month producing a short story titled 'A Mysterious War to the Deep' which was an online assignment given by his teacher and was eventually converted into an e-book format and print version.

The youngster also announced his intention to sell the work for charity.

His father, Ramakrishnan Nair, said his son was a loving person and had the desire to help the less fortunate since he was small.

"For example, before this, he asked us to help the less fortunate and cried until we offered help," he said in a posting shared on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's official Facebook (FB) page today.

Krishh Haran's mother, R Jayanthimarlin, said it was a personal project for her son.

"When he was little, he asked my husband to help the less fortunate.

"As parents, we try to support his wishes and have never prevented him from doing so," she said.

Krishh Haran also intends to continue his efforts to raise funds and help the people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
