KUALA LUMPUR: The government has accelerated the Covid-19 vaccine booster programme due to the recent spike in coronavirus cases nationwide.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in a social media post said the country has managed to slow the spread of Covid-19.
However, with the recent uptick in cases, there is a need to act fast to protect the most vulnerable in the society.
"That's why our booster programme has been accelerated.
"If you get your booster appointment, go for it," he said today.
The infectivity rate of Covid-19 has been on the rise since Oct 22. The R-naught (Rt) now stands at 0.95.
The Covid-19 vaccine booster programme was launched earlier this month, prioritising high risk groups.
