More than 1 million Covid-19 booster shots administered

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has administered over one million Covid-19 booster shots since it was rolled out last month.

According to the CovidNow website, a total 1,042,234 booster vaccines have been administered as of Nov 15 with 70,274 shots given yesterday.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said more should be done despite the encouraging numbers for the booster shots.

"We need to do much more to protect the most vulnerable as we are dealing with rising case numbers.

"When you get an appointment for your booster, go for it," he said via a tweet earlier today.

The country has been administering Pfizer vaccines as a booster dose since October.

The booster shots will soon be expanded to more groups including pregnant women; people aged 18 and above with comorbidities; people age 40 and above; and, non-health frontliners.
