Pfizer vaccine for children 5 to 11 gets conditional approval

KUALA LUMPUR: The Drug Control Authority, which convened its 368th meeting today, has given conditional approval for Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine to be used on children aged between five and 11.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the ministry today has also formed the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force - Children (CITF-C) to coordinate the Covid-19 vaccination programme for children.

He said the CITF-C will be chaired by his deputy Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali and it will coordinated by the ministry's Family Health Development Division.

"Similar to the Covid-19 vaccination drive involving adolescents, we may carry out the programme (Covid-19 immunisation involving children) in schools.

"We will make an announcement on when we will begin inoculating children aged from five to 11 with Covid-19 vaccines," he said.
