Fast, efficient booster shot process at WTCKL mega PPV

KUALA LUMPUR: Four mega Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPV) in the Klang Valley began offering booster shots starting at 9am today.

Checks at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), offering only the AstraZeneca vaccine, saw the vaccination process of the booster dose going smoothly.

Housewife Emi Mastura Pauzi, 37, from Sentul said it took her only 15 minutes to get her shot.

"I arrived at 9.40am and filled in the forms and by 10am, I had received my shot.

"This time it was very efficient and I did not have to queue for long and the process was fast and comfortable.

"Maybe because it was the third time already for us, therefore it was a quick one."

Emi Mastura said she decided to get her booster shot to better protect herself against the virus.

"There have been reports on declining immunity along with the emergence of new variants.

"Therefore, we should prepare ourselves first by getting booster shots," she said.

Another recipient Hairu Hazlan Harun, 37, also praised the smooth process at the PPV.

Hairu Hazlan, who is working in the private sector, said he had a pleasant experience at the centre, thanks to the smooth process and helpful volunteers.

"It took me 15 minutes to get everything done and the rest was for observation post-injection."

He said the nature of his job, which is meeting many people, had prompted him to get a booster shot.

"When I got my appointment date I didn't want to miss the opportunity because I want to protect myself and my family."

He added those who received their appointment at any mega PPV should take advantage of it because of the easy and smooth process.

Another recipient Palmathy Paramasewam, 33, said the flow at the WTCKL PPV was systematic and will not confuse the public.

"It was efficient with many volunteers ready to assist recipients. I got my shot in under half an hour.

"In my opinion, the move to open mega PPVs for the administration of booster doses was a good effort to increase the take-up rate."

Palmathy added she was thankful for the booster shot to protect herself.

"I don't mind getting the booster to protect myself and I was willing to walk-in or queue if I didn't get the appointment," she said.

Meanwhile, WTCKL PPV manager Dr Sharanjit Kaur said the PPV is open daily until March 15 from 8am to 9pm, except on public holidays.

She said the PPV will dispense 9,000 AstraZeneca doses daily to the public by appointment via MySejahtera.

However, she said walk-ins are no longer allowed.

"An hour since we opened our doors, we had vaccinated over 1,000 individuals and so far the process went smoothly."

Dr Sharanjit said priority lanes were also set up at the PPV for people with disabilities and senior citizens.

At the PPV, three healthcare organisers were involved in the programme, namely BookDoc, BP Healthcare and U.N.I Klinik.

Other than WTC KL, the mega PPVs in the Klang Valley are Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil, Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) Shah Alam and Soka Gakkai in Klang.
