KUALA LUMPUR: Several main roads around the capital were flooded following an hour-long downpour today.
Among the congested and flooded routes were Jalan Segambut, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Genting Klang, Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim.
The situation resulted in severe congestion due to the evening peak hours as people were returning home from work.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall Transportation Management Centre (ITIS) said in an update on Twitter that the floods began about 3pm.
"There had been heavy rain around the city centre. Some locations were inundated. It is flooding in the city centre. Be careful when driving as the road is slippery," said the post.
