5-day Covid-19 vaccination programme for kids begins tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Parents who wish to get their children immunised against Covid-19 can do so during a five-day vaccination drive from June 20 to 24.

Deputy Health Minister I Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said interested parents could take their children aged between five and 11 to health clinics under the Health Ministry, without having to make an appointment.

"This vaccination drive is to cater to parents who now wish to get the Covid-19 vaccine for children who missed out the opportunity before, and the Health Ministry's concern for the safety of children from vaccine-preventable diseases.

"Vaccination is based on the supply at the facilities, and should the stock for the day run out, parents can bring their children the next day," he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Azmi said parents who had just found out about the Covid-19 vaccination or just decided to allow their children to be vaccinated were encouraged to take this opportunity.

Meanwhile, parents could still make appointment bookings for their children who will be turning five, according to the date and place suitable through the MySejahtera application.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids), which was launched on Feb 3 for children aged five to 11, ended on May 31.

Since its launch, a total 1,737,117 children have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 1,286,790 children or 36.2 per cent have completed two doses.
