Ahmad Marzuk: Govt will not compromise with those insulting Islam

KOTA BARU: The government will not compromise when the sanctity of Islam is insulted by individuals or certain parties, says Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) said court action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt society.

"There is no good thing that comes out from insulting Islam, except that the provocations could lead to untoward incidents."

Ahmad Marzuk said this after launching the Quran Hour programme, organised by Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) at Pengkalan Chepa today.

He said the recent charges made against those who allegedly insulted Islam would serve as a lesson to others on the severity of the offence.

Ahmad Marzuk said the current law was adequate to punish the offenders.

He was referring to the two individuals in the state who were charged with insulting Islam.
