KOTA BARU: The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V has declared Che Puan Nur Diana Petra Abdullah as the Sultanah of Kelantan.
The announcement was made by Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob at Istana Balai Besar here today.
Ahmad said Che Puan Nur Diana would be known as Her Highness the Sultanah of Kelantan effective today.
He said Che Puan Sofie Louise Johansson Petra, the consort of Tengku Mahkota Kelantan Dr Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra is declared Her Highness Che Puan Mahkota of Kelantan.
"I would like to announce to the public that the State's Ruler has declared his consort Che Puan Nur Diana as the Sultanah of Kelantan.
"The announcement is in accordance with Phase 1 Article 43 of the Kelantan Constitution (Part 2).
"Apart from that, Sultan Muhammad V also declared Che Puan Sofie Louise Johansson Petra as Che Puan Mahkota of Kelantan," he said.
Also present at the announcement ceremony today were deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah and state Speaker Datuk Abdullah Ya'kub.
Ahmad said the declaration of the titles took effect today.
However, photos of the newly-styled Sultanah of Kelantan were not immediately available.
It is understood that the Kelantan palace would only allow for her picture to be published following an official public appearance soon.
